ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soratt mahalaa panjavaa ||
Sorat’h, Fifth Mehla:
ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sarab sukhaa kaa dhaataa satigur taa kee saranee paieeaai ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The True Guru is the Giver of all peace and comfort – seek His Sanctuary.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
dharasan bheTat hot ana(n)dhaa dhookh giaa har gaieeaai ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
Beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, bliss ensues, pain is dispelled, and one sings the Lord’s Praises. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
har ras peevahu bhaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ
Drink in the sublime essence of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam japahu naamo aaraadhahu gur poore kee saranaiee || rahaau ||
ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; worship the Naam in adoration, and enter the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru. ||Pause||
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
tiseh paraapat jis dhur likhiaa soiee pooran bhaiee ||
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Only one who has such pre-ordained destiny receives it; he alone becomes perfect, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੨॥੨੫॥੮੯॥
naanak kee bena(n)tee prabh jee naam rahaa liv laiee ||2||25||89||
। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਇਹ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ—ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਾਂ ।੨।੨੫।੮੯।
Nanak’s prayer, O Dear God, is to remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam. ||2||25||89||
