ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bilaaval mahalaa panjavaa ||
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
maat pitaa sut saath na maiaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਮਾਇਆ—(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ) ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ,
Mother, father, children and the wealth of Maya, will not go along with you.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
saadhasa(n)g sabh dhookh miTaiaa ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all pain is dispelled. ||1||
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪੇ ॥
rav rahiaa prabh sabh meh aape ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜੇਹੜਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ।
God Himself is pervading, and permeating all.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har jap rasanaa dhukh na viaape ||1|| rahaau ||
ਉਸ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Chant the Name of the Lord with your tongue, and pain will not afflict you. ||1||Pause||
ਤਿਖਾ ਭੂਖ ਬਹੁ ਤਪਤਿ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ॥
tikhaa bhookh bahu tapat viaapiaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਗਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੱੁਖ ਤੇ ਸੜਨ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ।
One who is afflicted by the terrible fire of thirst and desire,
ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਜਾਪਿਆ ॥੨॥
seetal bhe har har jas jaapiaa ||2||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ) ਠੰਢੇ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।
becomes cool, chanting the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਤਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
koT jatan sa(n)tokh na paiaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਜਤਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਭੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।
By millions of efforts, peace is not obtained;
ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
man tirapataanaa har gun gaiaa ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਇਆਂ ਮਨ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
the mind is satisfied only by singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਦੇਹੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
dheh bhagat prabh a(n)tarajaamee ||
ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹ ।
Please bless me with devotion, O God, O Searcher of hearts.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੦॥
naanak kee bena(n)tee suaamee ||4||5||10||
ਹੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ।੪।੫।੧੦।
